Very interesting place of history and facts of this town

Just take a chance and inspire the young ones with you to enjoy history right there in front of them.

This is a trophy of a museum! It's well ran and loaded with interesting displays and artifacts. I highly recommend others to visit. The museum also has many different presentations through out the year which are always informative and very interesting.

For being a small Museum sure does have a lot of history of the hometown and surrounding area and people who made the town what it is today from scratch and the surrounding areas as well.

Dowagiac has a long history .. including it pioneers, Veterans (there is a Memorial in town to Union Civil War Veterans from the area) and this little town museum is now 3 floors of exhibits .. everything from locals who served in Military, the Round Oak Stoves themselves, and even the local Native American Tribes History too.

What a little jewel! Our Michigan History kids had a wonderful time--their interest was captured as soon as we walked in the door by the authentic wigwam. Director Steve Arseneaux was well prepared with primary and secondary sources for their research projects. The exhibits are designed to appeal to young and old. The kids even got to make Christmas cards--all this for free. We will definitely be back.
